0301 - 0302 - Funeral For A Friend/Boysetsfire Pick-Ups

I'm jumping ahead of my usual sequence here, as I wanted to post up the two most recent additions to my collection. I went to see Funeral For A Friend and Boysetsfire last night in Leeds, as they're two of my favourite bands. I picked up the vinyl repress of their debut EP, Between Order And Model and also their recent split 7" with Boysetsfire.

Funeral For A Friend - Between Order And Model LP

I already own the original EP on CD, but couldn't pass up on the chance to get the vinyl re-press. I think the cover art is worth it on it's own. Originally, it was released via Mighty Atom, who remastered the songs for this pressing. It  was released via End Hits Records, which is owned by a members of Boysetsfire.

The lyric book included features old pictures from the band's early days and the original artwork on the front, which is a nice touch. The record also comes with a download code.

Tracklist:-
Side A -
1. 10.45 Amsterdam Conversations
2. Juno
3. The Art Of American Football
4. Red Is The New Black
5. Storytelling Part 2
6. Grand Central Station

Side B -
7. The Getaway Plan
8. 10.45 Amsterdam Conversations (Live)
9. Juneau/Juno (Live)
10. The Art Of American Football (Live)

All of the live tracks were recorded during their show in Augsburg, Germany in August 2013.

This record is the first pressing, which was out of a 1000 copies. Made up of 300 copies on White/Green vinyl and 700 on Translucent Orange vinyl.

You can pick up copies from End Hits Records here - http://www.endhitsrecords.com/releases/item/funeral-for-a-friend-between-order-and-model

0066 - Cease To Exist - Heptaparaparshinokh 7"

This was the final record from my first haul from Feast of Tentacles and a collaborative release between them and sadly departed UK label Hemlock 13.

It was my first introduction to their noisy blackened-hardcore.

I really like the imagery and stark black and white cover. It sums up what Cease To Exist are about for me, which is uncompromising and nasty noise. I saw them at Fuck Fest in Manchester last year and remember the frontman hanging from the camo netting that adorned the ceiling of Kraak Gallery.
They had a massive amount of energy that they expelled through the negativity of their music.

The 7" itself features six tracks -

A Side -
1. Servile
2. Feast
3. Chemognostic Illumination

B Side -
4. By The Will of The Deathless Gods
5. Crowned And Conquering
6. The Absolute of Sonuf Vaoresagi

The 7" itself was limited to 300 copies on black. 50 copies came with a patch. There was also 10 test presses.

There are no copies left at Feast of Tentacles, so you'll be best to try Discogs or other distros if you want one.

0065 - Rhino Charge - S/T 7"

I'm pretty proud to have this 7" in my collection. It was another pick up from Feast of Tentacles and was the 2nd release to come from US label To live A Lie Records.

I don't if too many people are familiar with Rhino Charge, but they were a three-piece from California who formed in 2005 I think. They released two demo's and this self-titled 7" in 2005 and then followed it up with a split with Protestant the following year.

Tracklist:-

1. Circular Evolution
2. Life Is A Life Lived
3. Molten Monument Of Man
4. Business Is Next To Godliness
5. Rhino Charge The Mall Rats
6. Perspective As Law

All six tracks were shoehorned onto a single-sided 7".

They pay homage to Darkthrone on the insert, which is pretty cool and as are the live shots underneath it.

My copy of the 7" is the 1st press "Mess/Marble" version. It's kind of like a turquoise colour. It's pretty rare now too.

Here's the pressing info -

5 Test Presses
1st press - 200 on Clear vinyl
1st press - 300 on Mess/Marble vinyl
2nd press - 500 on Cranberry vinyl

There were some variation's of those pressings available too, but there are no exact volumes. Have a look here - http://www.tolivealie.com/index2.html

Copies are no longer available from To Live A Lie's webstore, so you'll be better checking on Discogs or in distros.
